Stories of Healing

by The Reverend Anne C. Brower, M.D.

About the Author

As a practicing physician of forty-one years, Anne C. Brower spent six years in general practice and thirty-seven years in radiology, specializing in the diagnosis of bone disease. She has traveled widely in the United States, Canada, and Europe, teaching and consulting in this specialty, and has served as consultant in the medical care of five U.S. presidents.

Dr. Brower ran the medical residency training programs at Georgetown University and George Washington Universities, the Medical College of Virginia, Duke University, and Eastern Virginia Medical School, and became the first female chair of a medical school radiology department in the United States.

Dr. Brower has received many awards for her expertise, including the 1998 Madame Curie Award for the Most Outstanding Woman Radiologist in the United States. Her first book, Arthritis in Black and White, first published in 1981 and now heading into its third edition, is considered a “must read” by radiologists and rheumatologists in classrooms and labs across the country and abroad.

In 2001, Dr. Brower became the Reverend Dr. Brower when she was ordained an Episcopal priest. Transforming her knowledge and passion for healing to address not just the body, but the mind and spirit as well, Rev. Brower went on to introduce or expand the ancient sacrament of healing in parishes across Southern Virginia and Washington, D.C., and to teach and facilitate workshops and retreats on healing across the country. In this book, Brower combines her experiences as a physician, priest, and cancer survivor to present a one-of-a-kind insight into the healing of body, mind, and spirit.
